High-Resolution Genotyping of Expressed Equine MHC Reveals a Highly Complex MHC Structure

چکیده
The Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) genes play a key role in number of biological processes, most notably immunological responses. MHCI and MHCII incorporate complex set highly polymorphic polygenic series genes, which, due to the technical limitations previously available technologies, have only been partially characterized non-model but economically important species such as horse. advent high-throughput sequencing platforms has provided new opportunities develop methods generate high-resolution data on large scale apply them analysis gene sets MHC. In this study, we developed applied MiSeq-based approach for combined expressed repertoires cohorts Thoroughbred, Icelandic, Norwegian Fjord Horses. enabled us comprehensive MHCI/II all individuals (n = 168) included identifying 152 117 novel sequences, respectively. There was limited overlap haplotypes between Thoroughbred Icelandic/Norwegian horses, showcasing variation MHC repertoire genetically divergent breeds, it can be inferred that there is much more diversity global horse population. This study insights into structure equine highlighted unique features horses.

متن کاملMicrosatellite variation in the equine MHC.
Genes within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) encode proteins involved in innate and adaptive immune responses. Genetic variation in this region can influence the immune response of an individual animal to challenges from a variety of pathogens; however, a complete documentation of genetic variation in the MHC is lacking for most domestic animals, including horses. To provide addition...

The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) in sheep, Ovar-Mhc, is poorly characterised, when compared to other domestic animals. However, its basic structure is similar to that of other mammals, comprising class I, II and III regions. Currently, there is evidence for the existence of four class I loci. The class II region is better characterised, with evidence of one DRA, four DRB (one coding a...

BIG PICTURE: T cells are a critical player in the adaptative immune system, but unlike B cells whose B Cell Receptor (BCR) can interact with soluble antigen, the T cell can only see antigen in the form of short peptides that has been processed and displayed on the cell surface bound to MHC Class I and Class II molecules. Each TCR is clonotypic meaning that it has undergone the process of positi...
